The National Library of the Republic of Karelia held a scientific and practical conference Projects of Peter the Great. The Role of the Sovereign's Road in the History and Culture of Russia.
The conference was orginized by the Karelian Regional public organization Osudareva doroga (Eng. Sovereign's Road) and the National Library of the Republic of Karelia. The event was held with the assistance of the grant of the President of the Russian Federation for the development of civil society.
At the opening ceremony, the welcoming speeches were made by Pavel Gokkoev, the Head of the Department for Cultural Policy of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Karelia, Inna Sviderskaya, the program manager of the D. S. Likhachev Foundation and the Head of the Institute of Peter the Great, and Marina Nikishina, the Head of the National Library of the Republic of Karelia. Inna Sviderskaya gave wonderful editions of the D. S. Likhachev Foundation and Vyborg Reserve Museum to the library.
During the conference, scientists and researchers from the Republic of Karelia, Vyborg, Moscow and St. Petersburg made reports. There was a presentation of books: E. V. Anisimov “Peter the Great: Good or Evil for Russia?", P. A. Krotov "The Russian Fleet in the Baltic Sea at the Time of Peter the Great", B. V. Megorsky "Sieges and Charges of the Great Northern War (1700-1721)".
