The Scientific Secretary of the National Library of Karelia V. P. Lapichkova and the Chief Bibliographer of the Department of National and Local Literature and Bibliography took part in the final day of the XVIII Vladimir Brendoev Republican Festival of Karelian Literature Täs synnyinrannan minun algu — Here is the beginning of my homeland.
The holiday in the premises of the Olonets National Library brought together residents of the Olonets District, guests from Petrozavodsk and the Leningrad region. The participants of the events laid flowers to the commemorative plaque on the house, where V. E. Brendoev had lived. In the reading room of the library, poems and songs in Karelian language were performed by schoolchildren, writers and creative groups.
The audience was welcomed by E. I. Migunova, the Deputy Minister of the Republic of Karelia for National and Regional Policy Issues, S. K. Prokopyev, the Head of the Administration of the Olonets National Municipal District, V. V. Lukin, the Chairman of the organisation
Olonets Karelians, V. P. Lapichkova, the Scientific Secretary of the National Library of Karelia and the Managing Director of the Library Association of Karelia, E. E. Pietilyainen, poet, the Editor-in-Chief of the Sever Magazine, E. I. Markova, Doctor of Philology, the Head of the Department of Literary Studies of the Institute of Language, Literature and History of KarRC RAS.
At the end of the event, the Head of the Olonets Central Library System G. I. Chernobrovkin gave diplomas to the laureates of the V. E. Brendoev Literary Contest and the laureate of the V. E. Brendoev Literary Award 2018 A. Y. Savelyev.
