The National Library of Karelia held a scientific-practical conference History and Activity of the Nautical Club "Polar Odyssey".
Organizers: the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Karelia, the Karelian Fraternity in Moscow, the Historical and Cultural Maritime Center, Nautical Club "Polar Odyssey”, the Maritime Museum of the "Polar Odyssey", the National Library of Karelia. The forum was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Maritime Museum of the "Polar Odyssey", the 25th anniversary of reconstruction of a pomor boat, the 25th anniversary of the expedition The Catholic World and a visit to the Vatican, the 70th anniversary of the President of the Nautical Club "Polar Odyssey" and the Admiral of the Historical Fleet V. L. Dmitriev.
During the conference the President of the Nautical Club "Polar Odyssey" and the Admiral of the Historical Fleet V. L. Dmitriev was congratulated on his 70th birthday, members of the Nautical Club "Polar Odyssey" made reports on the results of long-term activity of the organization. The President of the Club Viktor Dmitriev presented a report "Development of the small folk fleet as a tool for rational use of natural and cultural, social and economic development of Karelia". A book exhibition and demonstration of films and photos about club’s expeditions were prepared for conference. The National Library got new wonderful editions from the Club "Polar Odyssey".
