October 2, 2023:
The ninth new generation model library in the Republic of Karelia and 1000th new generation model library opened in Belomorsk.
The library modernization project was implemented within the framework of the Culture national project; 10 million rubles were spent from the federal budget.
The library has been transformed, now it has its own identity: the territory’s brand – the White Sea petroglyphs – has been successfully used in the interior design. Readers will be pleased with the updated book collection and comfortable furniture. There are places for quiet reading, and for holding creative master classes, educational, cultural, leisure and professional library events.
The ceremony began with a video congratulation from Nadezhda Prepodobnaya, Deputy Minister of Culture of Russia, and Vadim Duda, General Director of the Russian State Library. There was a video greeting from Sergei Solovyov, First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Karelia.
The library and residents of Belomorsk were congratulated by Irina Kuzicheva, Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Karelia for the Pomorsky District, and Olga Alexandrova, Acting Head of the Administration of the Belomorsk Municipal District. There were musical greetings from the Pomors’ Russian Folk Choir (director V. A. Vasiliev) and the Blagodat Vocal Ensemble (director A.A. Baeva).
The ceremony ended with a tour of the renovated library.
The model library in Belomorsk is a synthesis of a traditional classical library and a modern information center, a place for communication, self-implementation, education and meetings for residents of Belomorsk and the Belomorsk District, which combines original design, functionality and comfort. The library sees its mission in preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Belomorsk District.
