18/03/2026. Opening of the photo exhibition and presentation of the book "Sacred Places. Karelia. Kondopozhsky District"
Until March 27, the National Library of Karelia's winter garden is hosting a photo exhibition by well-known Karelian photographer and traveller Ilya Timin – "Sacred Places. Karelia. Kondopozhsky District."
The photographer and his team, "Pilgrim," spent several years traveling through the sacred places of Kondopozhsky District, collecting stories and photographs of places where Orthodox culture and architecture flourish, as well as shrines that have nearly disappeared.
The team’s project got support from the Grant Foundation of the Head of the Republic of Karelia and The National Archives of Karelia, The Karelian Metropolitanate of the Russian Orthodox Church, the National Museum of the Republic of Karelia and specialists preserving the historical and cultural heritage. This is how an exhibition and a book were created, in which you can learn about the history of sacred places in remote corners of Kondopozhsky District of Karelia.
On March 16, the solemn opening of the exhibition at the National Library of Karelia gathered together Ilya Timin; Metropolitan Constantine of Petrozavodsk and Karelia; Irina Petukhova, Deputy Head of the National Archives of Karelia; Anastasiya Lesik, specialist at the Grant Foundation of the Head of the Republic of Karelia and many others interested in the history of the native land.
Welcome to the National Library of Karelia!
