The event was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of Yuri Linnik (1944 - 2018), Doctor of Philosophy, poet, collector, writer, researcher of Nicholas Roerich, and singer of the Russian North.
The participants in the event were presented with an exhibition of personal gifts from Yuri Linnik to his friends, prepared by the curator of the book collections of the National Library of Karelia Marina Danilova, as well as the constantly updated page of Yuri Linnik in the Electronic Library of Authors of Karelia – an Internet project of the National Library.
In her speech, Liudmila Morozova, Chairman of the Karelian Republican Council of the All-Russian Society for the Protection of Nature, tried to analyse and systematise the numerous works by Linnik dedicated to northern nature. Liudmila Morozova’s proposals to create a program in memory of Y. Linnik in Karelia were met with approval from the meeting participants.

Linnik, and Elena Soini, Doctor of Philological Sciences, author of books and monographs about N. K. Roerich, Linnik’s opponent and friend.
The event ended with the presentation of a magnificent audio play-promenade The Birds of Our City directed by Olga Kovlakova and based on texts by Yuri Linnik, Nikolai Klyuev, Alexander Vvedensky, Juan Jimenez, and the epic poem Kalevala. The professionalism of Olga Sakhanova, Vitali Tselobenok, Vladislav Timonin and Igor Makarov was highly appreciated by the audience.
