27/07/2018. Visiting the Moomins
July 24, 2018:
The National Library of Karelia held a program Inspiration of the Moominvalley dedicated to the Finnish writer Tove Jansson. Inspiration is the key word here. The warmth of the parents' home, acceptance and respect of relatives, friendly evenings, nature, a house by the sea, acquaintance with artists and poets – all this inspired Tove Jansson to create fairy tales filled with kindness, friendship and warm attitude to the strangest creatures.
Magic stories about the Moomins have been translated into more than 50 languages, there is the Moominvalley Museum in Tampere, cartoons have been created in many countries, composers write music and children read about adventures of the Moomins with great pleasure.
The participants of the program at the National Library learned the ”life rules” of the Moomins, visited the photo studio of Moominpappa and the fitting room of Snorkmaiden. Everyone learned to make Moomins with Play-Doh and went home with own fairy-tale hero!
The event was interesting and fun both for children and adults.
