05/07/2013. The seminar «Creative technologies in libraries»
From the 1st till the 5th of July in the National Library of the Republic of Karelia the seminar «Creative technologies in libraries» in the framework of the project «Libraries are changing: new forms of library work to the local community» was held.
The project was supported by the Cross-board cooperation program in the framework of European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument «Karelia».
The seminar was attended by representatives of the municipal library partners from Kondopoga, Sortavala, Kostamuksha and employees of the National Library of Karelia and library science experts from Moscow and Helsinki.

The participants of the seminar discussed prospect of creating specialized centers on the basis of the libraries of Petrozavodsk, Kondopoga, Sortavala, Kostamuksha, Joensuu and Kajaani within the project. These centers should be designed to meet information and cultural needs of the residents of the local communities. These centers will provide their users with latest multimedia and interactive services, allow user to work with educational resources, conduct researches on culture, tourism, ecology ets., and also will offer new forms on intellectual leisure.
During the seminar various forms of work were used: video presentations, on-line lectures, discussions and group work.
The participants got acquainted with work of Finnish libraries in the new conditions and the most interesting projects and services of the libraries of the world.
One day of the seminar was entirely devoted to development of models of information and cultural centers for particular areas. The special multimedia and interactive programs will be designed and the necessary equipment will be bought. This will allow to play multimedia applications and carry out practical individual and group classes for different target audiences. At the end of the project (December 2014) positive experience will be applied in other libraries in Karelia and Finland.
