25/08/2024. The program ”We Live in Karelia: Family Customs, Rituals, Culture” on the Day of the Republic of Karelia in Segezha

Professionals of the National Library of Karelia participated in events dedicated to the Day of the Republic of Karelia in Segezha. For residents and guests of the town, they presented a creative program ”We Live in Karelia: Family Customs, Rituals, Culture”. Among the quests, there were residents of Lipetsk, Saint-Petersburg, Nizhniy Novgorod, Tver... As part of the program, a book exhibition entitled “Culture and Family Traditions of the Karelian Land” was presented.
On this day, the book kiosk of the National Library of Karelia was open in Segezha, where the guests of the program could purchase new editions on local history, art albums, books on the history and folklore of Karelia, illustrated literature for children and young people. Residents and guests of Karelia were keenly interested not only in new books on local history, but also in collections of poetry and prose, art albums, and literature for children and young people that have already become popular and beloved among readers. Traditionally, photo albums, guidebooks, and postcards were in high demand.
As part of the Day of the Republic of Karelia, the results were summed up and the winners were awarded for the ninth republican literary competition. This year, 14 applications were submitted for the competition and 30 literary works from Segezha, Petrozavodsk and Moscow were presented. All the literary works received are declarations of love for their small homeland – the Segezha land – written in the language of poetry and prose, literary essays and fairy tales.
