24/09/2015. The photo exhibition The Life of Varkaus

In the framework of the Finnish-Russian Cultural Forum the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition The Life of Varkaus was held in the National Library of the Republic of Karelia. The exhibition is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of twinning relations between Varkaus and Petrozavodsk.
There are 40 works made by 8 members of the Varkaus photo club at the exhibition. Welcoming speeches were made at the opening ceremony by Juha Koivula, the chairman of the office of the Society "Finland - Russia" in Varkaus and the coordinator of the anniversary program from the Finnish side, Juhani Valtola and Juhani Vase, members of the Varkaus photo club, Natalia Lavrushina, the Deputy Head of the Administration of Petrozavodsk city district, Marina Nikishina, the Head of the National Library of the Republic of Karelia.
The artists of the Varkaus photo club tried to show their city diverse and interesting. Every 5 years the club organizes exhibitions of works by its members. Every year many of them take part in different exhibitions in Finland and abroad. This year the exhibition is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the club.
