The first city festival CultParkoV in Petrozavodsk
May 23, 2015:
The Petrozavodsk Tourist Information Centre, its partners and the National Library of the Republic of Karelia invited residents and visitors to the first city festival CultParkoV.
The purpose of the festival is to draw attention to the natural and recreational areas. We want to show that the park is a place where people can spend their time in an interesting and useful way.
This year the Park of the 50th anniversary of the Pioneer organization was chosen and all events were dedicated to the Year of Literature. There were many areas where everybody could find something interesting to himself.
Art objects on the themes of famous literary works, a literary quest, a Wonderland chess tournament, Brodsky street-art (works by graffiti artists on the themes of poems by I. Brodsky), a charity auction by the Zoobooks project, the Free Library in the mobile library of the National Library of the Republic of Karelia and many surprises waited guests at 11 festival areas.
The National Library held the Free Library campaign during the festival. The campaign was held under the motto “The Good Book to the Good Hands!” Everybody could choose books from the collection of the Free Library and take them without returning. About 2000 books found their readers. Books for children, Russian and foreign classic literature were the most popular. The Free Library in the park was visited by about 400 citizens.
Citizens and guests of Petrozavodsk were satisfied. The attempt to create a new environment for cultural leisure in the open air was called the trip to a fairy-tale.
