08/06/2016. The Pushkin’s Day in Russia
June 6, 2016:
The National Library of Karelia held an event dedicated to Aleksandr Pushkin’s birthday.
The visitors were welcomed by the hero of the day. As a hospitable host he prepared a creative program for the guests, of course, with the active participation of the library staff.
This year the guests of the event came without exaggeration from around the world: from China and Poland, from Korea and Cambodia, from Chad and Brazil, from Finland, Serbia, Ecuador, Vietnam, Philippines and Mongolia. All of them participated in the youth flash mob organized by the International Festival of Russian Language Glagol.
The guests do not come without gifts. As true connoisseurs of the Russian language and admirers of Aleksandr Pushkin our foreign friends prepared an experiment play for the guests - The Fairy Tale about Tsar Saltan. Aleksandr Pushkin also did not remain in debt. Every participant of the play made a trip to collection spaces and halls of the library and got a library card which opened an access to library’s printed editions even at the distance of thousands kilometers from Karelia. The guests appreciated this present, because all of them have been studying the Russian language and culture.
After the play a traditional open microphone My Pushkin has started its work in the National Library. Although cold and rainy weather did not allow the readers and writers to gather together at the monument to Aleksandr Pushkin, the music and power of Pushkin’s works allowed us to feel the warm of June’s sun regardless of any vagaries of nature.
The special guests of the event were Petrozavodsk schoolchildren and students. There were several platforms for them in the library. Children could test their knowledge of poet’s works and take picture with Aleksandr Pushkin and get a photo magnet in the memory of this day.
