In 2012 Pushkin Poetry Festival was held in the National Library of the Republic of Karelia at the beginning of summer.
For the visitors were organized musical lounge “I write to you …”, where soloists of the State Philharmonic of the Republic of Karelia performed, and a puppet performance based on “The Tale about the Fisherman and the Fish” by Pushkin and directed by Boris Kudryavtsev. Doll exhibitions made by Anna Selifanova and Zinaida Kolesnikova amazed children and their parents, and ancient folios, engravings and lithographs made everybody feel the atmosphere of Pushkin's time.
And, of course, presents and games are essential for a festival. A children quiz devoted to Pushkin was held in a lending department. Quizmasters were the Swan Princess and the Learned Cat. Children got a lot of candies for right answers.
Many of the guests visited a portrait studio organized by Evgeny Kargin and get a stylized portrait.
The special atmosphere reigned at the Pushkin's monument. The most faithful poetry lovers have come there to read Pushkin's poems in different languages. Our colleagues from Finland read poems in Finnish. At the end of festival guests laid flowers to the Pushkin's monument.
