27/02/2025. The Kalevala runes were recited in Hindi at the National Library

The National Library of Karelia held a musical and literary program Kalevala and World Literature: to the 190th Anniversary of the First Edition of the Karelian and Finnish Epic Poem Kalevala.
Visitors were presented with a variety of epics and literary works from around the world, created under the influence of the greatest Kalevala, accompanied by excerpts from Russian and foreign films and cartoons.
At the meeting, the melody of the Kalevala runes was played in Karelian, Russian, Old Finnish, and also in Hindi, one of the main literary languages of the Republic of India.
The Kalevala runes were performed by students and teachers of Petrozavodsk school #38 and students of the Medical Institute of PetrSU from India.
The program was adorned with the sound of the runes in the Karelian language accompanied by a kantele, performed by Igor Solovyov, lecturer at the Karelian State Conservatory.
The National Library of Karelia thanks everyone for participating in the program and invites you to see the book exhibition Kalevala and World Literature: to the 190th Anniversary of the First Edition of the Karelian and Finnish Epic Poem Kalevala, which will be on display in the library until April 9, the day the annual cultural marathon Kalevala Mosaic ends.
