11/01/2024. The Genius of the Place Project in the libraries of Karelia
In 2024, another Karelian library (the third in a row) joined the Genius of the Place project of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
Since 2021, the Ministry of Culture of Russia has been implementing the Genius of the Place project to create talent concentration points on the basis of public libraries as part of the Invented in Russia federal project. This project is included in the Implementation Plan of the Concept for the Development of Creative Industries and Mechanisms of State Support in Large and Major Urban Agglomerations until 2030, approved by order of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 2290-p dd August 22, 2022.
The project is aimed at developing creative industries in the regions, creating new intellectual products based on local identity, as well as preserving the cultural heritage and unique features of Russian territories. More information about the project can be found on the website универгения.рф.
In 2023, the next, third selection was held among libraries to participate in the project in 2024. Based on its results, 123 libraries were selected. These included Library No. 7 of Petrozavodsk Centralized Library System.
The Genius of the Place talent concentration point will be created on the basis of the library. For creative families of the city who love puppet theatre, master classes on making puppets on wooden spoons, interactive tours of the museum exhibition of Library No. 7, and meetings with expert puppeteers will be organized. During the project, everyone will be able to make their own mini-puppet theatre based on the Karelian and Finnish epic poem Kalevala using wooden spoons.
