14/07/2024. The Finno-Ugric Libraries of Russia project to develop and promote interregional connections
For many years, the National Library of Karelia has been building and maintaining the bilingual portal Finno-Ugric Libraries of Russia, the decision to create which was made by the heads of Finno-Ugric libraries during personal interaction back in 2003. Funding for the project for which the portal had been created has ended a long time ago, but the portal did not die, but, on the contrary, new libraries appeared among its participants. The portal continues to be relevant because it talks about small and indigenous peoples and their languages, the common ethnocultural space and interethnic interaction of the Finno-Ugric (and not only) regions of Russia – topics that become more and more significant every year.
At the moment, the portal is supported by the employees of regional libraries who are not indifferent to the topic of preserving the country’s cultural heritage – it is developing. News appears about people and events, new materials on current topics, etc.
We are very grateful to all our partners for their support of the project, for their activity and caring attitude towards the history and culture of their region!
We invite everyone to the portal Finno-Ugric Libraries of Russia.
