The National Library of the Republic of Karelia has for the forth time participated in the All-Russian event BiblioNight dedicated to the promotion of reading. The theme of the event was “Open a diary – catch the time”.
During the event guests of the library could receive a card of the National Library for free. Ten new patrons of different ages used this opportunity that night.
It’s the first BiblioNight when the National Library has received visitors in it’s new well-equipped library space, which allowed to carry out with success all the planned events at the same time at different platforms.
After that a Poetic and Musical Composition dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory was performed by a choir “Nevskaya volna” of the organization of Residents of besieged Leningrad, the Derzhavin’s Lyceum and the art school.
The project ”Cinema and literature. Movie heroes among us” offered to visitors a film Holidays in September shot in Petrozavodsk in 1979 and based on a play “The Duck Hunting” by Aleksandr Vampilov. After the film a discussion took place.
There were book exhibitions dedicated to the periodicals of the 20th century, life stories in memoirs, diaries, letters and rare books.
Fans of the contemporary literature attended a creative meeting with a famous Russian writer, specialist in literature and literary critic Maya Kucherskaya. After the meeting an autograph session was held. In a bookstall of the book store "Bukvoed" everyone could buy the most famous books by Maya Kucherskaya and get an autograph from the writer.
A discussion ”Postmodern: pro et contra” aroused a lively interest among the guests. Oleg Gureev and Elena Sapegina welcomed everyone to discuss the topical issues of development of culture and society. The discussion was accompanied by films Lezione 21 by Alessandro Barikko, The Stalker and The Nostalgia by Andrei Tarkovsky and A Clockwork Orange by Stanley Kubrick.
Visitors had an opportunity to visit the funds of the National Library of Karelia and make an excursion on the Onega quay.
Games on the plasma screen, board games, quizzes and workshops were offered to the youngest visitors.
During the BiblioNight about 600 people visited the library. The National Library of Karelia thanks it’s friends and partners who supported the BiblioNight.
