28/07/2026. St. Petersburg residents visited Fairy-Tale Karelia program

Guests from St. Petersburg visited the National Library of Karelia. Library professionals held a creative program called Fairy-Tale Karelia for young readers and their parents.
Hosts greeted welcomed in Karelian folk costumes. Adults and children embarked on a search for the lost "ingredients" of the legendary Sampo – a symbol of wealth and prosperity! The heroes of the Karelian-Finnish epic poem Kalevala were their main helpers along the way.
The program was full of events and truly family-friendly. Children and their parents immersed themselves in the world of the epic poem: they learned about the main characters and plot of the Kalevala; heard ancient runes and even learned to speak the Karelian language! We are pleased to inform that our guests successfully completed all the challenges and found the lost "recipe" for the Sampo. Fairy-Tale Karelia was a true immersion into the world of Karelian myths and legends. Of course, the Fairy-Tale Karelia creative program could not do without miracles, or rather, without a real miracle mill, which presented guests with souvenirs at the end.
