The National Library of Karelia held an interregional intellectual online tournament Russia. Century XIX. The tournament took place at The Karelian Regional Centre of Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library. The participants on the premises of the National Library were students of the Karelian College of Culture and Arts. The tournament was organized by Penza Regional Centre of the Presidential Library and it was attended by schoolchildren and students from Penza, Ryazan, Volgograd, Saransk, Pskov, Ulyanovsk and Chelyabinsk. The players passed through eight rounds: from a warm-up with multiple-choice answers to a blitz that decided the outcome of the game.
In the Golden Age of Russian Literature round, participants identified a writer based on facts from his or her biography and recognized works from the school curriculum based on a short fragment. The Masters and Masterpieces round helped fing the most erudite players in the field of Russian painting. The teams also had to correlate dates and events, understand photographs of architectural monuments, solve a historical crossword puzzle, decipher the meanings of historicisms and archaisms, and find interesting facts in digitized books on the Presidential Library portal.
During the tournament, the team from the Karelian College of Culture and Arts demonstrated their intelligence, logic and ability to work as a team and became the absolute winner.
