07/06/2024. Pushkin’s Day with the National Library of Karelia

The National Library of Karelia invited all readers to take part in a creative program Pushkin’s Day of Russia dedicated to the 225th anniversary of Alexander Pushkin and the Russian Language Day.
According to a tradition, on Pushkin’s Day, the Flowers to the Poet event took place. That day, admirers of the poet's work gathered together at the poet’s monument. Among them, there were children and adults, students and schoolchildren.
After laying flowers, the young participants of the action were treated to the fabulous legacy of the great poet. Children and adults were offered a lesson based on a tactile book, fairy tales were also discussed in a creative program that was part of the Summer with the National Library project.
Those interested in literature went to a cultural program "Let’s Translate Pushkin: Mission Impossible?" and a traditional weekly Literary Thursday event, where this time they talked about the works published during Pushkin's lifetime. The participants aimed to familiarize themselves with the secrets of Pushkin's texts and the European and Russian literary preferences of the 18th and 19th centuries.
Pushkin’s holiday ended with a lecture Pushkin and Karelia as a part of the educational program Local History Wednesday.
Professionals of the National Library of Karelia prepared a book exhibition dedicated to the biography and works of the great Russian poet and also editions published during Pushkin’s lifetime and being kept at the Sector of Rare Books.
For all readers, who cannot attend the holiday, the professionals of the National Library prepared a special gift to the anniversary of Pushkin. This is a virtual book exhibition Digital Pushkiniana or Books about Pushkin on the bookshelves of the electronic libraries.
