08/06/2017. Pushkin’s Day and Russian Language Day

The National Library of Karelia invited everybody to celebrate the Pushkin’s Day and Russian Language Day.
By the established tradition on the Pushkin’s Day a campaign “Flowers to the Poet” was held. This day lovers of the poet's works, people of different ages, children and adults, students and schoolchildren gathered together at the monument to Alexander Pushkin.
Pushkin’s poems were read by the Chairman of the Karelian regional branch of the Writers' Union of Russia, the Editor-in-chief of the Sever Magazine Elena Pietilyainen, a writer Nikolay Karpin, the Chairman of the “Ellada” Society of Greek Culture Tatyana Kornienko and other lovers of poetry, who came that day to the poet’s monument. Poems by Pushkin were read in Russian, German and Greek. A library's patron, Yuri Tikhomirov, delighted everyone and performed brilliantly Pavel Antokolsky's poem "The Ballad of a Wonderful Moment."
At the same time library began a large creative program, prepared for our young readers and named "A Journey to Pushkin's Tales." A big hall, which became a festive venue, hardly accommodated all comers. Children and adults were interested in listening predictions made by the Goldfish, participated in a quiz on the Russian language and Pushkin’s fairy-tales. A postcard master class Black on White was the most popular among participants of the holiday event.
Pushkin’s day finished with a play Pushkin of Pinega, which has already become a favorite of many viewers. The Chitka Project presented its own version of a story Pushkin of Pinega by Boris Shergin.
The audience and actors moved into the 29th day of January 1937, when the country commemorated the 100th day of Pushkin’s death. A tragicomedy Pushkin of Pinega was directed by Evgeny Karasik.
Roles were performed by Aleksandr Dokuchaev, Arseny Sibiryakov, Dmitry Gurev, Igor Solovyov, Svetlana Kharina, Yana Zhemoitelite. The dramatic action was complemented with pomors’ songs performed by a conservatory teacher Igor Solovyov.
