08/10/2026. Presentation of the book Russian Fancy Fairy-Tales
October 7, 2026:
The National Library of Karelia presented the book Russian Fancy Fairy-Tales (Rus. ”Russkiye zateinye skazki”) published by Petrozavodsk Ostrova Publishing House. The book contains six Russian folk fairy-tales collected in different regions of Russia.
Anastasiya Lyzlova, Researcher at the Institute of Language, Literature and History of the Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Science Academy, prepared comments to the fairy-tales.
The book is embellished with illustrations created by renowned Karelian decorative and applied arts masters – artists Yulia Gushchina and Alexander Krylov – according to the finest traditions of children’s book design. Art historian and local history researcher Tatyana Moshina and artist Vladimir Lobanov highly appreciated both the artists’ work and the publisher’s efforts, noting that the book is an undoubted success for the entire creative team.
The fairy-tale atmosphere in the hall was enhanced by children’s songs performed by a teacher and students from K. Rautio Music College of Petrozavodsk, as well as a Russian folk song performed by musician Vasily Krylov.
A special treat for those in attendance was a short play, "Katenka, the Three-Eye, and the Wicked Stepmother," performed by the Karelian folk theatre Čičiliušku under the direction of Boris Kudryavtsev. The book is available for purchase at the book kiosk in the National Library of the Republic of Karelia.
