07/10/2014. Opening of the conference hall
A new conference hall equipped with a videoconferencing system was opened in the National Library of Karelia. Before the first conference the library and its Head Marina Nikishina were congratulated on the new building by the Head of the Department of Capital Construction under the Ministry of Construction of Karelia Daniil Vinnik.
After that the library started to communicate with the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library using new videoconferencing system. Our colleagues from Saint-Petersburg welcomed all participants of the teleconference and congratulated everybody on the opening of the conference hall. After the official part a lesson dedicated to life of Aleksandr Pushkin and his books was started. Together with schoolchildren from Petrozavodsk this virtual lesson was attended by students from Omsk, Tomsk, Irkutsk, Penza, Volgograd, Kirov and Saint-Petersburg.
Despite the fact that many of the of senior pupils have come just to hear a lecture, Candidate of Philology and employee of the Presidential Library Rustem Gimadeev organized the lesson in the form of a dialogue. During the broadcast it turned out that live communication and unconventional approach to well-known texts and facts help to create a vivid image of the great poet and find out historical parallels with our age. In interview to journalists students said that they have been taking part in such event for the first time. Some of them have even experienced "a culture shock".
A videoconferencing system is very useful thing in modern business and other spheres. The National Library of Karelia invites our partners to take part in joint interregional and international projects. We are always open for real and virtual cooperation.
