April 15, 2026:
High school students from Petrozavodsk gathered at the National Library of Karelia to take part in a reading aloud championship as part of the city's Open a Book municipal campaign.
This year's, the theme for reading and study was fiction dedicated to heroic chapters in the history of our country. Arctic scientists and explorers, military leaders, and heroes of the first-line and second-line emerged from the pages of books to once again demonstrate the will to Victory and the fortitude passed down in Russia from generation to generation! A review of these publications was prepared for the literary competition participants.
The jury, consisting of schoolteachers and librarians from the National Library of Karelia, assessed not only the participants' reading technique but also their acting skills. Despite their nervousness and the difficult task of reading a text they had seen for the first time accurately and expressively, most of the young participants demonstrated a high level of literacy, reading comprehension, and acting talent.
