28/03/2024. New book about petroglyphs of Karelia

The National Library of Karelia held a presentation of Svetlana Georgievskaya’s book ”Petroglyphs of Karelia. The Onega Orans: Artist’s Revelation”. That March evening, friends, colleagues and fans came to congratulate Svetlana Georgievskaya, Karelian artist, on the release of the book.
The presentation was opened by Yuri Shleikin, Honoured Journalist of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Karelia and book’s editor. According to Yuri Shleikin, the book turned out to be not only successful and interesting, but also beautiful and elegant.
Dmitry Moskin sent his video message, in which he congratulated Svetlana on the release of a new publication dedicated to Onega petroglyphs.
The book by Svetlana Georgievskaya is dedicated to the interpretation of the central figure of the petroglyphs of Lake Onega. At the presentation of the book, Svetlana Georgievskaya showed videos about the process of creating copies of petroglyphs on rice paper. Petroglyph prints had been used in the design of the book. Ekaterina Velikanova, Candidate of Philological Sciences, member of the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature, worked on the book together with Svetlana Vasilyevna. Ekaterina acted as the literary editor of the book.
Nadezhda Lobanova, a Candidate of Historical Sciences, a famous researcher of petroglyphs, the leader of many expeditions, the participants of which were Svetlana Georgievskaya and Igor Georgievsky, congratulated and thanked the author on the publication of the book.
Elena Markova, Doctor of Philology, member of the Union of Writers of Russia, spoke at the presentation, noting Svetlana Georgievskaya’s interesting approach to the study of the central figure of the group of Onega petroglyphs.
At the end of the presentation, there was a musical gift from musicologist, composer, and piano teacher Irina Smirnova.
