The speakers included writers of the province of Oulu Robert Brantberg and Satu Korho and representatives of the unions of writers of Karelia writers Dmitry Novikov and Sergei Pupyshev.
The leaders of the seminar were the Chairman of the Center for Development of the Art of Oulu Tuomo Heikkinen and a Karelian writer and translator Jaana Zhemoitelite.
The floor was given to everyone who wanted to speak on the topic of northern literature. A lively discussion took place at the seminar, and it continued also after the seminar.
The seminar was preceded by the opening ceremony of an exhibition of graphic works by Finnish artist and thinker Alexander Ahola-Valo (1900 - 1997). The exhibition was prepared by the Finland-Russia Friendship Society. The Head of the National Library of Karelia M. V. Nikishina, the Chairman of the Society E. A. Barbashina, and representatives of the Finnish side, including personally acquainted with the artist, gave speeches at the ceremony.
