26/12/2023. Kheikki the Troll’s Gift. Presentation of a book by Anna Tilles
December 26, 2023:
On the eve of the New Year and Christmas holidays, the National Library of Karelia hosted a presentation of the book Kheikki the Troll’s Gift by Nadezhda Zvyagintseva, writing under the pseudonym Anna Tilles.
Readers of the Children's Reading Centre are familiar with the work of Anna Tilles from two previous books: Mother Ikhuola's Advice and Tales of a Karelian Hut. The author’s new work, Kheikki the Troll’s Gift, is a continuation of the book Mother Ikhuola's Advice, which was published by the Petrozavodsk publishing house Verso in 2023. It is illustrated by a talented artist Marina Gorshkova. This kind, cheerful and exciting story tells about the amazing journey of winter fairy-tale characters – Joulupukki from Lapland, Pakkaine from Olonets and Talvi Ukko from Karelia – to the distant northern land of Pohjola.
Participants in the presentation solved ancient, intricate Karelian riddles of the North Wind, played winter games with the Karelian Snowflake Lumikki, found out who the old woman Vieristä was, what was the magic of the juniper hat of the Karelian devil Kekhne and, finally, what the northern troll Kheikki gave to Mother Ikhuola. Both children and adults enjoyed communicating with the author, were able to ask questions that interested them, and wished her further success in her work.
Books by Anna Tilles can be purchased at the book kiosk of the National Library of Karelia or ordered for reading through the electronic catalogue.
