12/02/2015. IX Scientific Conference “Local Studies Days”
IX Scientific Conference Local Studies Days dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory and the Year of Literary in Russia was held.
The Conference was organized by the National Library of Karelia and the Institute of Language, Literature and History of RAS. The Conference has been gathering together for 9 years people interested in local studies and development of history research in Karelia.
There were sections “Literature. Folklore. Language”, “Cultural heritage: the problems of preservation and study”, “The history of the XX century”, “Local studies in Karelia”, “History. Ethnography”, “Military history” and 53 reports were presented at the conference. Speakers included scientists, teachers, specialists of museums, archives and libraries, students and postgraduates, local historians. Researchers from Ptrozavodsk, Kem, Kondopoga and Belomorsk Districts spoke at the conference.
Traditionally the conference was held in a democratic environment. The presentations and reports were made by the leading specialists in their field as well as by young researchers. The conference participants exchanged actively views, made suggestions and shared their experiences with colleagues.
Reports made at the IX Scientific Conference “Local Studies Days” will be published in an electronic form (with consent of the author). The materials of the previous conferences are available on the website of the National Library of Karelia, and they are published on a disc registered in the Information Registry.
The Conference participants expressed their gratitude to the organizers for the high level of the event at the final plenary session.
