14/02/2017. From Kalevala to Pohjola

The opening ceremony of the exhibition From Kalevala to Pohjola was held in the Children’s Museum Centre of the Kizhi Museum. Visitors of the exhibition made an unusual trip from the land of Kalevala to the grim land of Pohjola, visited the house of the wicked old Louhi and tried to create the world according to the runes of Kalevala.
The National Library of Karelia presented its interactive media resource By Lönnrot’s Trail which attracted attention of adults and children. Young participants liked to collect heroes of Kalevala from puzzle pieces, guess proverbs in Karelian language, and adults watched with pleasure a video gallery consisted of fragments of films from the last century dedicated to life and traditions of inhabitants of Karelian villages. One of the exhibition sections is named the Book Kalevala. There are the publications of Kalevala from the collection of the National Library of Karelia in Russian, German and Finnish and Kalevala for children.
During the official opening ceremony of the exhibition the welcoming speeches were made by the Head of the Kizhi Museum Elena Bogdanova, the author of the exhibition Natalia Arkhipova and the Head of the National Library of Karelia Marina Nikishina.
