January 23, 2018:
The National Library of Karelia held an event in memory of the the People’s Writer of the Republic of Karelia Nikolai Abramov. It has been 2 years since he have been gone. Nikolai Abramov was a man of many talents, he is known as a journalist, literary translator, photographer, actor and public figure. In 2014 – 2016, he worked at the National Library of Karelia. And indeed, any of his talents was very bright and, at the same time, they all complemented each other.
But the word POET characterizes as well as possible not only the creativity, but also the life of Nikolai Abramov. He wrote poems and prose in Vepsian and Russian and became the author of the first poetic book in the Vepsian language.
In October 2017, the title of The People’s Writer of the Republic of Karelia was awarded to Nikolai Abramov posthumously for ”creation of outstanding highly artistic works of literature, which received wide public recognition, and a great contribution to preservation and development of the culture, language and literature of the Vepsian people".
Cinema is one of many creative fields of Nikolai Abramov. At the memorial evening for the first time in Karelia the film Vepsians’ Sorrow created in the St. Petersburg creative association was shown, the film was directed by Petr Vasiliev and Igor Smirnov. Filming began in summer 2015 in the homeland of Nikolai Abramov. The film became the best in the category Documentary Film of the International Zolotaja Vershina Festival, which was held in the framework of the St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum in 2017.
This film is an illustration of another side of the universal talent of Nikolai Abramov – the talent of journalist and documentarist. The idea of the film was originally discussed by its author Petr Vasiliev with Nikolai Abramov at the Congress of Finno-Ugric Writers in Hungary. The film is the last shooting of Nikolai Abramov in his native Ladva.
This evening, friends and relatives of Nikolai Abramov came to remember the Poet. Many read poems.
Nikolai Abramov stays with us with his imperishable poems, photos, film works and life memories. Thanks to everyone who keeps this memory.
