01/03/2013. Biblionight
On the 20th of April 2012 the Biblionight was held in Russia. The event was conducted the first time as a great social and cultural event across Russia from Kaliningrad to Sakhalin. More than 750 libraries and cultural centres in 90 cities opened their doors at an inopportune time. The action was designed to support the literary process, promote reading, develop libraries, museums and publishing, and to organize a new form of leisure. This evening readers saw the library in a different light, not as a repository of books but also as a place for interesting leisure. In Petrozavodsk a couple of stages with different kinds of programs attracted a lot of visitors of different ages. In Karelia the event was initiated by the National Library of the Republic of Karelia. |
The library is being reconstructed, that's why some events were held in other places, including The Center of National Cultures, The Library for Young and Children of the Republic of Karelia and the club restaurant Begemot. It wasn't a big problem, because all stages were located in an immediate vicinity of each other. Everybody knows that every cloud has a silver lining. The more venues the more interesting the event is. |
The events were linked with each other, because in the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Karelia, which financed the program, the working group was established. Many writers, artists, designers, actors, musicians and journalists and the youth organization “Nuori Karjala” (The Young Karelia) took an active part in this event. Organizers of the event are thankful to the creative community of our city for it's support and projects. And everywhere “in the beginning was the Word”.
