10/02/2024. A Karelian Family: Customs, Culture, Communication. A program at the Art-Winter in the Old Town festival
February 10, 2024:
The National Library of Karelia attended the Art-Winter in the Old Town annual festival and held a creative program “A Karelian Family: Customs, Culture, Communication”.
Everyone who came to the holiday was treated to a varied program to suit every taste – from engrossing games, exhibitions and outdoor performances to master classes, interactive excursions and family art workshops. Despite the frosty weather, a warm and sincere atmosphere reigned in the mobile library of the National Library of Karelia. Visitors to the mobile library easily answered even the trickiest questions of the interactive quiz “We Live in Karelia: Family Customs and Traditions.” Besides, if difficulties suddenly arose, they turned to the book exhibition “It All Starts with the Family” and easily coped with any task. Each visitor to the mobile library could learn a few words and phrases in the Karelian language at the “Five Minutes in Karelian” master class, get acquainted with the main traditions of a Karelian family, see Karelian costumes and even perform songs in the Karelian language. The Year of the Family is just beginning, which means that readers of the National Library of Karelia can expect many projects and programs dedicated to the family and family values.
On the day of the Hyperborea 2024 festival, the Non-profit Foundation for the Support of Domestic Literature (St. Petersburg), as part of the Book for You project, presented the literary performance 50 Runes of Kalevala. The foundation's ambassadors, including representatives of business, government and arts, read the 13th rune translated by L.P. Belsky. Rostislav Moshnikov, employee of the National Library of Karelia, took part in the performance. The foundation's expeditions are aimed at strengthening socio-cultural cooperation between regions and popularizing reading.
