A meeting with a writer Jonas Lüscher was held in the National Library of Karelia. Jonas Lüscher is a Swiss writer who lives and works in Munich. His new book “Barbarians’ Spring” was published in 2013 and got several prestigious literary awards

On the 15th of October 2014 the National Library of the Republic of Karelia celebrated its 181st anniversary. During this time the library has passed a long and difficult path from a small room with several bookcases to the main book depository of Karelia.

On the 7th of October 2014 in the Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Karelia an event dedicated to the 125th anniversary of Anna Akhmatova was held.

In May 2013 the National Library of the Republic of Karelia launched a new project Read Streets as Books! Within the project specialists of the Department of National and Local Literature of the Library conduct free walking excursions around the city of Petrozavodsk.
