07/09/2019. Kalakunda 2019 with the National Library of Karelia

September 7, 2019: The National Library of Karelia took part in one of the main events in Karelia and Petrozavodsk - the Kalakunda Fish Festival. Experienced fishermen, amateur fishermen and beginners gathered at Duck Pond near the LOTOS-PLAZA Shopping and Entertainment Centre to take part in Kalakunda 2019 and compete in fishing. The new place promised even greater catch! Some plunged headlong into fishing, dreaming of catching 100 trout released into the pond.

04/09/2019. First-Class Academy

September 2, 2019: The National Library of Karelia took part in a great family holiday dedicated to the Day of Knowledge. At 12 p.m. at the Kirov square, a unique First-Class Academy launched its work. New first graders and their parents came to the cozy mobile library of the National Library from all schools of Petrozavodsk.

August 14, 2019: Kari Synberg, the Chairman of the Finnish Geographical Society, the Head of the National Delphic Council of Finland, Doctor of Philosophy, Consul, Rostislav Dusaev, Professor of Petrozavodsk State University, Doctor of Law, and Anatoly Gusarov, representative of the National Delphic Council in Karelia, the Head of the Sortavala Fraternity, visited the National Library of Karelia.

07/07/2019. Local history program "Petroquest"

July 3, 2019: In the framework of the project Summer with the National Library, the exciting local history program Petroquest was held. Young readers of the library felt like real time travelers. Making difficult tasks, they, together with the virtual hero - schoolboy Vasya, visited Petrozavodsk of different eras. The children found themselves in the ancient village of Solomennoye, in the place of which the eponymous city district appeared, became witnesses of the construction of the Petrovsky plant, met Saint Thaddeus, the commander Alexander Suvorov, the plant director Charles Gascoigne and other famous historical persons.

04/07/2019. The National Library of Karelia took part in the celebration of the City Day!

June 29, 2019: In the framework of the City Day, the National Library of Karelia took part in a traditional festival Illusions of the Old Town, which was held in the historic district. Once a year, residents and visitors of our town are transferred to 100 years in the past, where scenes of the life of a provincial city are recreated before their eyes. This time, the theme of the historical reenactment was Petrozavodsk Crafts. The Opening of the City Theater.

10/06/2019. Pushkin Day at the National Library of Karelia

June 6, 2019: The annual Pushkin Day and the Day of the Russian Language took place in the National Library of Karelia. Traditionally, the holiday began with the event “Flowers to the Poet”, where, in honor of the 220th anniversary of Alexander Pushkin, sincere and warm words about the importance and relevance of his literary heritage were said. As proof of this, Pushkin's poems were performed by schoolchildren, students, writers and citizens of Petrozavodsk at the library square near the monument to the poet.

May 27–31, 2019: The National Library of the Republic of Karelia together with Karelian College of Culture and Arts with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Karelia, held XII Summer School for Rural Librarians of Karelia – the Republican summer seminar of rural librarians "Modern rural library". This year the theme was “Reference for renewal: actual directions of development of rural libraries in Karelia”.
