February 28, 2017:
The National Library of the Republic of Karelia held a creative program Let’s Read the Runes of Kalevala. Librarians of the National Library of Karelia and the D. I. Gusarov Central City Library of Petrozavodsk read world famous epic poem Kalevala in Russian, Finnish, Karelian and Vepsian.
The participants of the program got acquainted with archival audios and videos, an exhibition of Kalevala editions in different languages, video presentation with paintings and illustrations based on Kalevala. The event was attended by youth folklore and ethnographic ensemble Kajahuš.
