16/01/2017. The meeting of friends of the National Library of the Republic of Karelia
January 14, 2017:
The National Library of the Republic of Karelia held a meeting of its friends. There were two reasons for this meeting: a good established tradition of meetings on the Old New Year and the 25th anniversary of the main library of Karelia as the national library. During the event the participants and winners of contests and quizzes dedicated to this anniversary were awarded. The meeting of friends is also a chance to express our gratitude to our partners who have provided invaluable help to the National Library. It's doubly nice to have a chance to say warm words personally.
The meeting of the friends was attended by the Senior Adviser of the Head of the Republic of Karelia Aleksandr Hynninen, the representative of the Charity Foundation of Sergey Pirozhnikov Katerina Litvinova, the Chairman of the regional department of the Russian Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature and the Deputy Head of the Derzhavin Lyceum Irina Roy, the Head of the Journalism Department of the Petrozavodsk Children and Youth Art School Elena Rybalova, the representative of the Petrozavodsk Regional Directorate of the October Railway Sergey Abdrashitov and the member of the Karelians’ Friendly Association in Moscow Sergey Potekhin.
On the eve of the anniversary the library invited readers to participate in a quiz and in contests. At the meeting of friends the results were summed up and the participants and winners were awarded. The quiz From the Public to the National: Two Hundred Years of the Library History was won by Irina Sokolova who answered correctly and accurately the questions of an extremely difficult questionnaire on the history of the library.
Leonid Nikolaev, Irina Fofanova, Valentina Khorosh and Natalia Kirikova became the winners of the essay contest My Library; they wrote their stories about the library. Tatyana Berdasheva and Larisa Nagovitsyna became the winners of the photo contest My Library; they sent photos made in library interiors. The competition commission decided to publish works by winners of the essay and photo contest in a special electronic edition on the web site of the library.
The Check-in contest was won by Anastasiya Zakirzyanova who fulfilled the conditions of competition having registered in the National Library with help of mobile application Swarm and saved a photo made in the library.
A little surprise was prepared for fans of quizzes and competitions at the end of the evening. The National Library of Karelia together with Russian Stove makers’ Society organized a competition of art works Warm Words. The aim of the competition is to draw attention to reading and preservation of traditional values which didn’t lost their significance today.
Works by young painters who took part in the auction in aid of children with cancer of the Arina Tubis Foundation which was held in 2016 with the participation of the National Library of Karelia were presented at the event.
In the new year-2017 the National Library of Karelia will be glad to meet all its friends and readers in its premises as often as possible.
Welcome!
