May 25, 2018:
The National Library of the Republic of Karelia held a solemn event dedicated to the All-Russian Day of Libraries.
The professional community and veterans of libraries were congratulated by the Chairman of the Committee of the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Karelia on Education, Culture, Sports and Youth Policy G. A. Gorelikova, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Karelia A. N. Lesonen, the Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Karelia N. D. Volkova and the Chief Specialist of the Department of Culture and Public Relations of the Administration of Petrozavodsk City District O. M. Anukhina.
The staff of libraries of different departments received certificates of honor and letters of thanks for their long-term conscientious work in the development of the library filed of the Republic of Karelia.
The musical gifts at the event were the performances by students of the Karelian College of Culture and Arts Eseniya Yunevich and Simon Kayava, as well as songs performed by the Russian song chorus Zaonezhskye Uzory (artistic director - Ilya Grafov, host of the program - Olga Ananyina).
During the holiday program a Soviet Karelia newsreel dedicated to the solemn opening on May 27, 1959 of the building of the Public Library of the Karelian ASSR on Pushkinskaya Street, 5 and a video about new opportunities of the National Library of the Republic of Karelia after its reconstruction were shown.
