The National Library of Karelia took part in the City Day of Petrozavodsk
The celebration program of the City Day of Petrozavodsk was very rich. The National Library of Karelia participated in two projects: a premiere project Book Boulevard and a traditional museum project Illusions of the Old City.
At the Book Boulevard the Book Stall of the National Library was opened offering editions of Karelian publishers and authors at affordable prices to citizens and guests of a holiday. Literature for children, guidebooks, maps, art and photo albums, souvenir products – the assortment was really wide.
Illusions of the Old City transfer us once a year 100 years back to the past. In a historical quarter pictures of the past ”come to life", and scenes of the life of a provincial town of the beginning of the 20th century are recreated. This year the historical reconstruction was dedicated to the theme Petrozavodsk. Summer before Revolution. The National Library of Karelia prepared a creative program The Petrozavodsk Station. Summer 1917 and presented it to the guests of the celebration in the mobile library. Life of the province in 1917 could be traced on the pages of the Olonets Provincial Gazette. A book exhibition Historical Page. Russia. 1917. The Beginning helped the participants of the program to unravel the quest From the Life of the Provincial City P. Board games of the beginning of the 20th century were popular among children and also adults. Besides an exhibition A Great Book Trip from Saint-Petersburg to Murmansk was presented. The visitors of the mobile library appreciated the creative program and collection of the National Library of Karelia.
