30/01/2017. The Evening of Vepsian Culture in the National Library of Karelia

The National Library of Karelia held the Evening of Vepsian Culture organized by the Karelian public organization the Society of Vepsian Culture. The program of the evening contained memories of friends and relatives about Nikolai Abramov, a Vepsian poet, journalist, literary translator and photographer. After that the edition of the Vepsian epic poem Virantanaz in Vepsian, Russian, Finnish and Estonian was presented to the audience. A fragment of the new film Through the Vepsian Land: 50 Years Later by the National Museum of Estonia was shown, also video lessons Let’s Speak Vepsian and the new portal of the Society of Vepsian Culture were presented.
According to the tradition the National Library of Karelia opened a book exhibition; there were fiction literature in Vepsian, books on national culture and history of Vepsians, periodicals and textbooks in Vepsian on display. The Evening of Vepsian Culture could also be attended through the Internet by means of on-line translation.
