31/12/2013. The 180th anniversary of the National Library of Karelia
On the 15th of October 2013 a holiday Kraski Karelii (Colours of Karelia) devoted to the 180th anniversary of the National Library of Karelia brought together friends, partners and readers of the library.
At the beginning of the holiday Minister of Culture of the Republic of Karelia Elena Bogdanova, members of executive authority, heads of cultural institutions and readers came to congratulate the library. Especially for this event a film devoted to the history, present and future projects of the National Library of Karelia was created. Warm words were said, flowers and gifts were given to the head of the library Irina Dobrinina, employees and veterans of the library.
After that in the library there was an anniversary program Kraski Karelii (Colours of Karelia). This program has been held in the library for a second time and devoted to the Days of Finno-Ugric peoples.
Fans of modern Russian prose and artistic expression visited performance by honored artist of Karelia and theatre actor Valeri Baulin. The audience welcomed warmly a literary and musical project prepared to the anniversary of the library by a poet and photographer Anna Matasova. She read poems to the accompaniment of musical instruments, and her photos taken in Karelia were presented.
Folk band SKYLARK and brass band Karelia brass performed at the holiday.
Library professionals were hospitable hosts and opened all the library doors for their readers. Librarians like experienced guides organized excursions for adults and young people. Together they visited floors of the library, where are millions of documents, and the office of the head of the library.
In the National Library there were also events for library professionals. On the 15th of October a meeting for heads of the central municipal and Republican libraries of Karelia was held.
On the 16th of October there was a seminar “Working with book monuments in libraries: legal bases, description of collections of libraries, museums and archives”.
