13/02/2025. Presentation of the new book by Nadezhda Vasilyeva
February 12, 2025:
The National Library held a presentation of the new book by Nadezhda Vasilyeva The Moon on an Old Tapestry, or Nine Clear Days (Rus. Луна на старом гобелене, или Девять ясных дней).
Nadezhda Vasilyeva is a famous Karelian writer, who writes for children, young and adult readers. Nadezhda Vasilyeva is a Chairperson of the Karelian Branch of the Union of Russian Writers and laureate of Karelian, Russian and international awards.
A new book by Nadezhda Vasilyeva is a continuation of the story Yetishka’s Life (Rus. Етишкина жизнь) which at one time became the basis for the project of the Library Association of the Republic of Karelia Why Does My Soul Hurts? At the meeting, they talked, among other things, about this wonderful project. In 2007-2008, a creative group of actors visited many places in Karelia and showed with great success a performance based on the story by N. Vasilyeva. There were about fifty such meetings.
Nadezhda Vasilyeva is known to her admirers as an author and performer of songs based on poems by a variety of authors, including Karelian poets. Nadezhda Vasilyeva wrote many songs based on the words of Leonid Avksentyev, two of which were performed in the library.
The presentation took place on the eve of the International Book Giving Day, and Vasilyeva gave some of her books to our library. The meeting ended with an autograph session: anyone who wanted could purchase the story The Moon on an Old Tapestry at the library's book kiosk with the author's autograph.
