22/08/2013. A new project of the National Library of Karelia
In May 2013 the National Library of the Republic of Karelia launched a new project Read Streets as Books! Within the project specialists of the Library conduct free walking excursions around the city of Petrozavodsk. The residents and quests of our city are welcome to join in these excursions. The excursions are very popular among our visitors.
There are three excursion routes: Onega Quay, Kirov Square and Pushkinskaya Street. A walking tour lasts about one and a half hours.
During a walking tour a specialist of the Local Literature Department of the National Library of Karelia acts as a guide utilizing books and photos, and members of an excursion group become familiar with history of Petrozavodsk and stories devoted to it's development. Besides, new routes are going to be planned in the framework of the project.
